Use and selection of  IBC adapters

IBC adapters screw onto the IBC valve and convert a standard IBC outlet to a number of commonly used fittings including BSP, Hozelock, and Camlock fittings. The Hozelock and hose tail fittings allow you to quickly attach your hose, making them ideal if you intend to use the water inside your IBC to water your plants.

To choose the correct adapter for your IBC tank, you will need to know the following two points:

The thread type and gender (i.e. male or female) of the outlet of your IBC tank. The type and gender of connection you need to attach to your IBC tank.

These IBC fittings will adopt either an IBC tank with an S60x6 valve to a male BSP/NPT 3/4”, 1”, 1 1/2” or 2” connection, or an IBC tank with an S100x8 valve to a male BSP 2” connection. The adaptor simply screws on to ensure a tight fit and it’s ready to use.

What is a BSP/NPT connection?

BSP (British Standard Pipe) is the technical standard for the thread of fittings, and it is a very common thread type. Many fittings and pipes used to join multiple IBCs together will use BSP threads, as will many faucets. This is a widely used international standard, which is why our IBC to BSP adapters are available in various sizes, such as from 1/2″ to 2″.

NPT thread is a kind of American standard 60-degree tapered pipe thread, which is divided into general sealing cylindrical pipe thread and general sealing conical pipe thread.
